Filo
Spinato is Italian for barb wire, first patented in 1874 by Joseph Farwell
Glidden, from DeKalb, Illinois. It's a fitting name to honor the
traditions of "Barb City," the affectionate name for Downtown DeKalb. But the name is about as traditional as it will get. Filo Spinatos offers non-traditional, modern Italian cuisine in a warm atmosphere that exudes a feeling of something really special. The building was renovated from the basement up by proprietors Mel and Debbie Witmer. It is part of their vision and commitment to being active partners in the renovation of the downtown district and to provide DeKalb with a world class dining experience. The Witmer's began by renovating the former Penney's building and opening O'Leary's Pub and Restaurant and continues with their current renovation of the former Birch Jeweler's building for the coming Tapalaluna Tapas Bar. |
